Govt to Challenge SC's Ban on Ajinomoto Import

ISLAMABAD:- The Federal Cabinet Meeting held today made government filing of a review petition against the Supreme Court decision to stop the import of Monosodium Glutamate (MSG), the well-known Ajinomoto, through the authorization of the government.

It will be the next step along with the Commerce Ministry's proposal and a report from a special committee of experts. The commission housing the health impact of MSG (a new name) discovered that the substance was the perfect recipe for human consumption. The group included academic professors from the PSIRO, NAU, and NFC, which are Pakistan's leading Agricultural and Industrial Research Organizations, respectively.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif's work in guiding the Federal Cabinet led to the accomplishment of major revolutionary projects. Besides, there was also approval for the enactment of the National Prevention of Violent Extremism Policy 2024 Fathered by the Interior Ministry. Also, The Islamabad Central Business District Development Authority that would be among the capital of the city has just been given the green light in projects that have the highest performance objectives.

As for education, the Cabinet works on a lot of other projects among which is the renewal of Memoranda of Understanding with big name international institutions, for instance, Cambridge University, Oxford, the University of Jordan, Beijing University, Heidelberg University, and Pakistan's well-known Chairs in Germany. It also appointed Dr. Habib ur Rehman and Dr. Kamran Ansari from Pakistan as subject experts in the Board of Governors at University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore.

The cabinet has also cleared the stage for legal reforms by approving the amendments to the jurisdiction of the courts by following the decision of High Courts in Sindh, Balochistan, and Peshawar. Furthermore, the additional session judges would be allowed to let their imaginations run wild by looking at a case from a Lawyers Welfare and Protection Act, 2023 point of view.

The Chairman of the Government, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, was also a strong supporter, noting that the country's economic team successfully reduced smuggling, inflation, and increased revenue collection to help stabilize the economy, bringing some softness to the country's shaky situation.
